About Course

Most legal problems in daily life are small: a deposit the landlord will not return, an FIR the police will not write, a bank that will not reverse a fraud, a builder who is late, an employer who holds back your dues, a parent who needs care. Each one has a rule, a time limit and a forum that solves it, usually without a lawyer and without a courtroom. This self-paced Lexfolio certificate course teaches those rules in plain English, for every Indian adult, using the new criminal codes (BNS, BNSS, BSA), the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the labour Codes, the DPDP Act and Rules, RERA, the RTI Act and the Motor Vehicles Act as they stand in October 2026.

What you will learn

  • Your fundamental rights and how courts, police, legal aid and helplines actually work
  • Dealing with the police: FIR and zero FIR, your rights on arrest, bail, summons, cheque bounce and plea bargaining
  • Consumer rights, where and how to complain for free, bank fraud liability, loan recovery rules and insurance claims
  • Renting, buying property under RERA, registration, wills, nominations and who inherits without a will
  • Wages, hours, leave, PF, ESI, gratuity, resignation, termination, POSH and maternity rights
  • Marriage and registration, divorce and maintenance, domestic violence, child protection and the rights of senior citizens
  • Cyber fraud in the first hour, your rights under the DPDP Act, defamation, online harassment and takedowns
  • Using the RTI Act, traffic rules and fines, accident compensation, grievance portals, Lok Adalats and mediation

Who this course is for

Every adult who wants to handle everyday situations with confidence: working professionals, homemakers, students, senior citizens, small business owners and first-time tenants or home buyers. No legal background is needed. Law students will find it a practical companion to their first-year subjects, and teachers can use it for legal literacy programmes.

How the course works

The course has 8 modules with 24 text lessons, each ending with key takeaways, and a short quiz at the end of every module. Lessons give the exact section numbers, time limits, fees and helpline numbers you need, with real-life examples. You can study at your own pace on any device.

How the certificate works

  • After completing the lessons, you take an online final test of 30 multiple choice questions based on everyday scenarios, with a time limit of 45 minutes.
  • The pass mark is 60%. If you do not pass, you can review the lessons and try again.
  • On passing, you receive a Lexfolio certificate of completion with a unique certificate ID, which anyone can verify online.
  • This is a certificate of completion issued by Lexfolio. It is not a degree, diploma or professional qualification.

This course is for education only and is not legal advice. It reflects the law as on 19 October 2026. Fines, fees and limits are revised from time to time and some provisions vary by State; for a specific situation, consult a qualified lawyer or your District Legal Services Authority.
