Description
Most students arrive in law school, or decide to apply to one, without knowing what lawyers actually do, how the entrance exams work, how to read a section or a judgment, or how to use five years so that a job is waiting at the end. This self-paced Lexfolio certificate course is the orientation that law schools rarely give: the careers a law degree leads to and what they pay, the exams and how to choose a college, the method of legal reasoning, the map of Indian law, a preview of contract, tort and criminal law under the BNS, research and writing from case briefs to moot memorials, internships, moots and publications, and a study system with a concrete first-semester plan, as the law and the profession stand in October 2026.
What you will learn
- Careers in law in India, their realities and incomes, and the five-year and three-year routes into the profession
- CLAT, AILET, LSAT India, MH CET and other exams, a twelve-month preparation plan, and how to choose between NLUs, private and government colleges
- Legal reasoning with IRAC, reading a statute section by section, and reading a judgment to find the ratio
- The Constitution as framework, the sources of law, and how civil and criminal cases move through the courts under the CPC and the BNSS
- The core first-year subjects previewed: contract, torts and criminal law under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with the cases you will read first
- Legal research with free and paid databases, citation, case briefs, note-taking, exam answers, memos and moot memorials
- Internships year by year, moots, journals and competitions, the CV, campus recruitment, the judiciary route and networking
- A weekly study rhythm, exam technique, legal current affairs habit, a reading list and a one-page first-semester plan
