Description

A society that bans your pet. A neighbour who threatens the woman feeding community dogs. A child bitten in the park and parents who do not know the vaccine is free or that compensation may be payable. Dogs poisoned in a colony and police who say it is only a ₹50 fine. A parakeet bought at a market that turns out to be a protected species. Animal law in India changed sharply in 2025 and 2026, and most people are acting on rumours. This course explains, in plain language and with exact sections, rules and judgments, what the law says to pet owners, feeders, housing societies and dog bite victims, and what to do, in order, when something goes wrong.

What you will learn

  • Article 51A(g), the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and why the Section 11 fine is still only ₹10 to ₹50
  • How BNS Section 325 (killing or maiming animals, up to five years) and Section 291 (negligent conduct with animals) work
  • The Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023: sterilisation, vaccination, release to the same locality, and feeding spots under Rule 20
  • Exactly what the Supreme Court ordered in the stray dog case between August 2025 and May 2026, and what is in force now
  • What to do after a dog bite: first aid, rabies vaccination, police complaint and compensation, including the Punjab and Haryana High Court formula and its limits
  • Pet registration, the 2024 breed circular and its court challenges, pet shop and breeder rules, and travelling with pets
  • Which birds and animals you cannot keep under the Wild Life (Protection) Act, and the 2024 exotic species registration rules
  • Housing society and landlord rules, neighbour disputes, pets in divorce and after death, cruelty reporting, and model letters and complaints

Who this course is for

Pet owners, people who feed and care for community dogs and cats, RWA and housing society committee members, animal lovers and rescuers, and people bitten by dogs and their families. No legal background is needed. The course is balanced: animal welfare and residents’ safety both matter, and the law protects both.

How the course works

6 modules, 18 self-paced text lessons with worked examples from Indian cities, and a 5-question quiz after each module. The final module gives you checklists, step-by-step plans and model formats (police complaint for cruelty, letter to an RWA on feeding spots, dog bite compensation claim) you can adapt.

How the certificate works

  • Final test of 30 multiple-choice questions, mostly based on real-life situations
  • 45 minutes, pass mark 60 percent, retry allowed
  • Certificate with a unique ID, verifiable online at lexfolio.in/verify-certificate/
  • It is a certificate of completion issued by Lexfolio, not a degree, diploma or professional qualification, and it does not entitle anyone to practise law
