How to take the CLAT free mock test properly
A free mock wasted is a benchmark lost. Treat it as the real exam.
- Book a 2:00 pm slot on a quiet day, ideally a Sunday, because that is when CLAT 2027 is held.
- Keep a rough sheet and pen. You will need them for Quant and for marking passage structure.
- Do not pause. The online timer auto-submits at 120 minutes. Do not stop for calls.
- Attempt in your planned order. Many students start with the section they are strongest in. Decide your order before you begin, not in the middle.
- Guess with care. One wrong answer costs a quarter mark. Guess only when you have removed at least two options.
- Analyse the same evening or next day, using the explanations for every question you got wrong or guessed.

What a CLAT sample paper for 2027 looks like
Any CLAT sample paper 2027 worth your time should match this blueprint, drawn from the Consortium’s CLAT 2027 UG question paper format:
| Point | Position |
|---|---|
| English Language | 22 to 26 questions, about 20%, on passages of about 450 words |
| Current Affairs including GK | 28 to 32 questions, about 25%, on news and non-fiction passages |
| Legal Reasoning | 28 to 32 questions, about 25%; principles given in the passage |
| Logical Reasoning | 22 to 26 questions, about 20%; arguments, inferences, assumptions |
| Quantitative Techniques | 10 to 14 questions, about 10%; Class 10 maths on data sets |
If a free CLAT practice test has 150 questions, very short passages or memory-based legal questions, it is built on an older pattern. Use it for sectional drills only.

Reading your free mock score
Your first CLAT free mock test score is a starting point, not a verdict. After the CLAT mock test online free attempt, look at three numbers, not one:
- Attempts: how many of the 120 you reached. Low attempts mean a reading speed problem.
- Accuracy: correct answers divided by attempts. As a rough rule of thumb, accuracy below 75% means you are guessing too much or misreading.
- Section split: marks per section against the number of questions in it. A weak Legal Reasoning or Current Affairs score costs most, because each has about 30 questions.
Take Kabir from Bhopal. Suppose he reaches 95 questions and gets 70 right. His score is 70 minus (25 × 0.25) = 63.75. His fix is not “do more mocks”; it is to cut wrong answers, since 25 errors cost him over 6 marks. Our guide on what is a good score in CLAT 2027 explains how to read scores against past cut-offs.
Free CLAT test series versus paid: an honest view
Free mocks are excellent for a baseline and for checking a provider’s quality. The real previous papers are the gold standard and cost ₹500 from the Consortium. Paid mocks become worth it once you have used those, because you need 8 to 12 full-length papers before 6 December and there are only three real papers in the current 120-question format. Whatever you choose, apply the checklist in our guide to the best CLAT mock test series.
