What makes the best CLAT mock test series: a checklist

Do not judge a CLAT test series by its advertising. Judge it by whether a test from it feels like the real paper. Apply these checks to any provider, including us.

  1. Exact pattern. 120 questions, 120 minutes, five sections, and section counts inside the Consortium’s ranges. A mock with 150 questions is built on the pre-2024 pattern and will wreck your timing.
  2. Passage length and level. The syllabus says passages of about 450 words that a Class 12 student can read in 5 to 7 minutes. Very short passages make a mock feel easy and give you a false score.
  3. Legal Reasoning built on principles, not law knowledge. The official syllabus says no prior knowledge of law is needed. If a mock asks you to recall section numbers, it is testing the wrong skill.
  4. Quant at Class 10 level. Ratios, percentages, basic algebra, mensuration and simple statistics, presented as data sets. Not advanced maths.
  5. Current affairs from real, recent events. Passages should come from verified 2026 news, not recycled older topics.
  6. Explanations for every question, including why the tempting wrong option is wrong. A bare answer key teaches you very little.
  7. Negative marking applied in the score. Your score report must deduct 0.25 per wrong answer, or you will overestimate your rank.

Start with free official resources

The Consortium of National Law Universities publishes the CLAT 2027 UG syllabus, the question paper format and the instructions on consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The Consortium also sells previous years’ question papers for ₹500 with the application. The application window runs to 31 October 2026, and no extension had been announced when this guide was written, so if you have not applied, do it now and check the official site for any notice.

Solve at least two actual papers in the 120-question format (CLAT 2024, 2025 and 2026) under timed conditions. They are your benchmark for difficulty. Our guide to CLAT previous year question papers explains how to use them without wasting them. After that, take a free CLAT UG 2027 online mock test to see how an online timed format feels before you pay for anything.

Practise this in exam conditions. The CLAT UG 2027 Mock Tests are four full-length papers in the official pattern, each with 120 passage-based questions across the five sections in the Consortium’s proportions, original passages and explained answers. CLAT UG 2027 Mock Tests, ₹149. If you prefer an online timer, try the CLAT UG 2027 Online Test Series, ₹99.

How many CLAT mock tests should you take in 2027, and when

From 29 October to 6 December there are 38 days. A full mock takes 2 hours to write and at least 2 hours to analyse properly. A realistic plan:

  • Now to mid-November: two full mocks a week (Wednesday and Sunday). Spend the other days fixing what each mock exposed.
  • Mid-November to 30 November: three mocks a week, always at 2:00 pm, the real exam slot.
  • 1 to 4 December: one last mock, then only revision of your error log and current affairs.
  • 5 December: no mock. Read the CLAT 2027 exam day checklist and sleep on time.

That gives you roughly 10 to 12 mocks. Analysis is where the marks come from; our guide on CLAT mock test analysis gives a step-by-step method.

Online CLAT test series or printed mocks?

CLAT is a pen and paper test, so you need practice on paper too. Printed or PDF mocks let you mark passages, fill an OMR-style answer sheet and manage page-turning, which is how the real paper works. An online CLAT test series gives you an automatic timer, instant scoring with negative marking and easy retakes, which is useful for quick section drills.

The sensible mix: write at least half your full-length mocks on printed paper with a wall clock, and use online tests for timed practice on weak sections. Whatever you use, write the CLAT full length mock in one sitting, without pausing.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best CLAT mock test series for 2027?

The best CLAT mock test series for 2027 is one that follows the official pattern exactly: 120 passage-based questions, 2 hours, five sections in the Consortium’s proportions and minus 0.25 for a wrong answer. It should explain every answer and use original passages. Check any provider against these points rather than relying on claims of rank or popularity.

How many mock tests are enough for CLAT 2027?

With about five weeks left before 6 December 2026, 8 to 12 full-length mocks are enough if you analyse each one for at least as long as you took to write it. More mocks without analysis rarely raise scores. Leave the day before the exam free of mocks.

Is there a free CLAT mock test online?

Yes. Lexfolio offers one free full-length CLAT UG 2027 online mock with 120 questions, a 120-minute timer and explanations, which needs a free account. The Consortium’s own previous years’ papers, available for ₹500 with the application, are the best benchmark for difficulty.

Should I take CLAT mocks online or on paper?

CLAT 2027 is an offline pen and paper exam, so write at least half your full mocks on paper with a strict clock. Online tests are useful for instant scoring and quick sectional practice. A mix of both works best.
