AIBE Previous Year Question Papers: Official Source and How to Use

Written by

in

AIBE previous year question papers are best taken from the official portal, allindiabarexamination.com, where the Bar Council of India posted the AIBE XXI (7 June 2026) question booklets in Sets A, B, C and D with the provisional and final answer keys. Each booklet has 100 one-mark questions across the 19 syllabus subjects. Use them to learn the pattern, then practise on fresh questions, because AIBE XXII on 29 November 2026 will not repeat the same paper.

Where to find AIBE previous year question papers officially

The Bar Council of India runs the exam through its portal, allindiabarexamination.com. After each exam it publishes a provisional answer key with the question booklets so candidates can raise objections, and later a final answer key on which the result is prepared. For AIBE XXI, the provisional key and four English booklets (Set A, B, C and D) went up on 10 June 2026, and the final answer key on 10 July 2026. Those are genuine AIBE previous year papers with answers, straight from the examining body.

Two cautions. First, pick one set, sit it as a full paper, and mark it against the final key, not the provisional one, because the Monitoring Committee can change or drop answers. Second, many sites offer an “AIBE question paper PDF” for older cycles, such as the AIBE 19 question paper, with their own answers. Treat those answers as unchecked. When we checked the portal on 29 October 2026, its notice board listed the AIBE XXI material; for older papers, rely only on files you can trace to the BCI.

What the official papers tell you about AIBE XXII

You do not need to memorise AIBE previous year question papers. You need the pattern. A careful reading of recent official papers shows four things.

  1. Bare Act questions dominate. Many questions ask which section or Article deals with a point, or what a provision says. These are the questions your Bare Act can answer in the hall, if you know where to look.
  2. Old and new criminal codes both appear. The AIBE XXII syllabus (dated 13 October 2026) names IPC and BNS, CrPC and BNSS, and the Evidence Act and BSA together. Expect questions that need you to move between old and new section numbers.
  3. Leading cases recur. Constitutional Law, PIL and Professional Ethics questions often turn on well-known judgments and BCI Rules rather than fine detail.
  4. Answers can be withdrawn. In AIBE XX (30 November 2025), five questions were withdrawn and the result was worked out of 95, as Bar and Bench reported. Do not panic over one strange question; move on.

How to use AIBE previous year question papers in the last month

There are about four weeks left. A sensible plan for solved papers looks like this:

  1. Week 1: Sit the AIBE XXI paper once, timed at 3 hours, with only clean Bare Acts. Mark it against the final key.
  2. Analyse every miss. Sort each wrong answer into one of three boxes: did not know the law, knew it but could not find it in the Bare Act, or misread the question. The second box is the cheapest to fix: tab your Bare Acts.
  3. Weeks 2 and 3: Move to fresh, full-length papers in the same subject split. Reusing a paper you have already seen inflates your score and hides weak areas.
  4. Week 4: One full paper every second day, revision of misses on the other days, and no new topics in the last three days.

A free warm-up: try the free 50-question AIBE XXII mock, which is short enough to finish in one sitting and shows your weak subjects quickly.

Practise this in exam conditions. Once you have seen the official paper, switch to new questions: five full-length AIBE XXII papers, each 100 new questions in the official BCI subject split, with solutions citing the section, Article or case, and criminal law set on BNS, BNSS and BSA with old IPC and CrPC references. AIBE XXII Mock Tests, ₹149. For subject-wise drilling, the AIBE Practice Pack, ₹199 has 300 original explained MCQs.

Common mistakes with AIBE solved papers

  • Trusting unofficial answer keys. If a downloaded key disagrees with the BCI final key, the BCI key wins.
  • Studying only IPC numbers. Old papers were set mostly on the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act. For AIBE XXII, learn the BNS, BNSS and BSA equivalents. Our IPC to BNS conversion table helps.
  • Skipping the small subjects. Company Law, Cyber Law, Environmental Law, Land Acquisition and IPR carry 2 questions each. Ten easy marks together.
  • Leaving blanks. There has been no negative marking in recent cycles, so answer every question.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get AIBE previous year question papers?

The official source is allindiabarexamination.com. The BCI posted the AIBE XXI question booklets (Sets A to D, English) with the provisional answer key in June 2026 and the final answer key in July 2026. Prefer these over unofficial PDFs whose answers nobody has checked.

Are AIBE previous year papers with answers enough to pass?

No. They show the pattern, but AIBE XXII will have new questions. Use one or two official papers for pattern, then practise on fresh full-length papers in the same 19-subject split and revise your misses.

Is the AIBE 19 question paper still useful?

It is useful only for style. Older papers were set on the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act, while the AIBE XXII syllabus includes the BNS, BNSS and BSA. Convert old section numbers to new ones as you practise.

How many questions come in the AIBE paper?

The AIBE paper has 100 multiple-choice questions of one mark each across 19 subjects. Constitutional Law, CrPC and BNSS, and CPC carry 10 questions each in the AIBE XXII syllabus.

Is AIBE open book?

Partly. Candidates may carry Bare Acts without notes or comments. Books, notes, commentaries and annotated Bare Acts are not allowed, and phones and smart watches are barred.
