The Consortium of NLUs describes 26 National Law Universities taking admissions through CLAT 2027, and its participating-universities page lists 27 entries, because some universities have more than one campus. Seats and fees differ sharply from one NLU to another, and each NLU states them in its own brochure, so the list of NLUs through CLAT 2027 below gives the figures as printed there. Lexfolio does not rank NLUs: no official source does, and a seat that suits one student can be wrong for another.
| Point | Position |
|---|---|
| Source of the list | Participating Universities page, consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2027 |
| Programmes | All 5-year integrated LL.B. admissions for 2027-28 are through CLAT 2027 |
| Seats and fees | Printed in each NLU’s e-brochure; the NLU’s own website prevails if they differ |
| Counselling preferences | CLAT 2026 required at least 15 NLU preferences for UG |
| NRI and foreign national seats | The Consortium does not allot these; apply to the NLU directly |

Which NLU is best for BA LLB? Use a checklist, not a ranking
People search for the best NLU for BA LLB, but the honest answer depends on you. When you compare NLUs through CLAT 2027, check these, from the brochures:
- Seats and domicile reservation. Several NLUs reserve a share for their own state. Check the seat matrix for your category and state.
- Total cost. Add tuition, hostel, mess and one-time fees, and note that tuition rises each year (NALSAR’s brochure says ₹5,000 a year, for example).
- Programmes. Some NLUs also offer B.B.A. LL.B., B.Sc. LL.B. and other combined degrees.
- Location, hostel and family budget. Think about distance and living cost for five years.
Learn this properly, with a certificate. Planning to enter law school? Law School Starter is a certificate course for law aspirants and first-year students on how legal study works, so the first semester feels familiar. Law School Starter, ₹349: self-paced lessons, module quizzes and a 30-question final test; pass at 60% for a verifiable Lexfolio certificate. It is a certificate of completion, not a degree, and it does not help in admission.
