Law Entrance Exams in India 2027: List, Dates and Windows

The main law entrance exams in India for 2027 admissions are CLAT (Sunday 6 December 2026, 2 pm to 4 pm; applications close 31 October 2026), AILET (Sunday 13 December 2026, 2 pm to 4 pm), SLAT (19 and 26 December 2026), LSAT India, MH CET Law, CUET UG and, after graduation, CUET PG (March 2027). As on 29 October 2026, the 2027 schedules of LSAT India, MH CET Law and CUET UG have not been confirmed, so this list marks each date as confirmed or not.

BA LLB entrance exams in 2027: dates and application windows

CLAT 2027 (UG)

The Consortium of NLUs announced CLAT 2027 for Sunday 6 December 2026, 2 pm to 4 pm. The online form opened on 3 August 2026 and, as per its press release, stays open until 31 October 2026. No extension has been announced as on 29 October 2026, so check consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The UG paper is a pen-and-paper test of 120 multiple-choice questions in two hours, in English, with 1 mark for a correct answer and 0.25 deducted for a wrong one. The reported fee is ₹4,000 (₹3,500 for SC, ST and BPL candidates).

AILET 2027

NLU Delhi opened AILET registration on 7 August 2026 and holds the test on Sunday 13 December 2026, 2 pm to 4 pm, for the five-year BA LLB (Hons.) and the LL.M. Reports give 10 November 2026 as the closing date and a fee of ₹3,000 (₹1,000 for SC, ST and PwD). The UG paper is reported as 150 MCQs in the split English 50, Current Affairs and GK 30, Logical Reasoning 70, with 0.25 negative marking. Read the CLAT vs AILET comparison.

SLAT 2027

The Symbiosis Law Admission Test is computer-based, with 60 objective questions in 60 minutes and no negative marking. Symbiosis lists two test dates, 19 and 26 December 2026, and counts the better score. The fee is ₹2,550 per test plus ₹1,000 per programme applied for, plus taxes. The application deadline is reported as 4 December 2026.

LSAT India

LSAT India is run by the Law School Admission Council and accepted by participating private law schools. A confirmed 2027 schedule was not available when this page was written. Check the LSAC India portal and your target college’s admission page.

MH CET Law and CUET UG

For the five-year LL.B. in Maharashtra, the CET Cell has not announced the 2027 schedule. In the 2026 cycle the registration deadline was extended to 15 March 2026 and the exam was scheduled for 8 May 2026, so expect a similar spring window and watch cetcell.mahacet.org. For CUET UG, NTA had not announced 2027 dates by 29 October 2026; the 2026 exam was held in May. Law entrance exams in India after graduation: LL.B. and LL.M.

• CLAT PG 2027. For the LL.M. at participating NLUs. The Consortium’s press release covers CLAT 2027 as a whole, so the date is 6 December 2026 and applications also close 31 October 2026. See the CLAT PG pattern and syllabus.
• AILET LL.M. Same test day as AILET UG, 13 December 2026, at NLU Delhi.
• CUET PG. The route to the LL.M. and the three-year LL.B. at many central universities. NTA’s calendar places it in March 2027, starting 2 March 2027 as reported, with registration expected in December 2026. See CUET PG law preparation.
• State and university tests. Several States and universities run their own law entrance tests for the three-year LL.B. Check each university’s prospectus.

How to choose among law entrance exams in India

1. List target colleges first. Each college states which tests it accepts. Not every test opens every door.
2. Check the calendar for clashes. CLAT (6 December), AILET (13 December) and SLAT (19 and 26 December) fall on separate days, so all three are possible.
3. Prepare once, adapt twice. Reading, legal reasoning and current affairs carry across CLAT and AILET; the section mix and negative marking differ.
4. Keep a deadline sheet with the last date, fee and document list for each form.
