Delhi APP eligibility: the law degree and bar practice requirement
To be eligible for Delhi APP recruitment, a candidate needs a degree in law that is recognised for enrolment as an advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961, and at least 3 years of actual practice as an advocate. This is a practice-based post, not a fresh-graduate entry post, so the bar membership and years at the bar matter as much as the degree itself.
Candidates who have worked as a government advocate or public prosecutor can see this experience used at the shortlisting stage, where the notification specifies it. Delhi APP age limit: category-wise as on 2 October 2026
The age limit is calculated as on the closing date of the application, which for this cycle was 2 October 2026.
- UR and EWS: 35 years.
- OBC: 38 years.
- SC and ST: 40 years.
- PwBD: an additional 10 years’ relaxation on top of the applicable category limit.
- Certain contractual or departmental candidates: up to 5 years’ one-time relaxation, as specified in the notification.
Because the age is fixed to the closing date and not the RT date, a candidate who crossed the age limit after 2 October 2026 but was within it on that date remains eligible for this cycle.
