PSU recruitment through CLAT PG means a public sector undertaking shortlists law graduates for legal officer posts using their marks in that year’s CLAT PG paper, usually followed by a group discussion or interview. Verified recent examples are POWERGRID’s Officer Trainee (Law) notice through CLAT 2026 (7 posts, advertised 23 October 2025), NTPC’s Assistant Law Officer recruitment through CLAT 2026 (6 posts, January 2026) and Indian Oil’s Law Officer recruitment through PG CLAT 2024 (12 posts, September 2024). Each notice accepts only one year’s CLAT PG score, so check every PSU’s current notification before you rely on CLAT 2027.

PSU recruitment through CLAT PG: verified notices

We list only PSU recruitment through CLAT PG that we could confirm from the official advertisement or a reputable legal news report. A PSU that used CLAT once may not use it again.

How PSU jobs through CLAT PG score work

  1. The notice comes before or after the exam. POWERGRID’s 2026-cycle notice came out on 23 October 2025, before the CLAT 2026 application had closed; NTPC’s came in January 2026, after the results. If you want PSU options, register for CLAT PG and write the paper even if you are not sure about an LL.M.
  2. Only that year’s score counts. The POWERGRID and NTPC notices both said earlier CLAT scores were not valid. A good CLAT 2026 score is of no use for a notice tied to CLAT 2027.
  3. You apply separately to the PSU. You fill the PSU’s own form with your CLAT details, within its window.
  4. Shortlisting is by CLAT PG marks, for group discussion or interview.
  5. Final merit mixes stages. In POWERGRID’s case CLAT marks carried 85% weight, so your CLAT PG score for PSU legal officer posts does most of the work.

Rahul, a 26-year-old LL.B. graduate from Patna, should write CLAT 2027 PG on 6 December 2026 and watch PSU careers pages until early 2027.

Practise this in exam conditions. In PSU recruitment through CLAT PG, a few marks can decide the shortlist. The CLAT PG 2027 Mock Tests are two full-length papers, each 24 passages and 120 questions across all thirteen subjects, built on landmark and recent Supreme Court judgments and bare Act provisions. Is selection by CLAT PG score legally valid?

PSU recruitment through CLAT PG has been challenged in court. In 2022, a single judge of the Kerala High Court (Aishwarya Mohan v. Union of India) held NTPC’s requirement of having appeared in CLAT for Assistant Law Officer violative of Article 16. On 25 July 2022, a Division Bench allowed NTPC’s appeal and held the condition lawful.

On the other side, in September 2025 the Delhi High Court quashed a National Highways Authority of India notification that recruited lawyers by factoring in CLAT PG scores from 2022 onward (Shannu Baghel v. Union of India). NHAI is a statutory authority, not a PSU, but the ruling shows such criteria can be struck down, so follow each notice and any court order on it.

What score do you need?

No PSU publishes a “safe” score in advance, and we will not guess one. The verifiable floor: POWERGRID’s notice set a minimum of 40% CLAT marks for unreserved and 30% for reserved vacancies. Above that, it depends on applicants and posts (6 to 12 per recent notice), and with minus 0.25 per wrong answer, accuracy matters as much as attempts.
